Raylar Inc. has developed 8 new camshaft profiles for the 496-8.1 engine after extensive dynamometer testing on various combinations of our "BigPower" Heads, manifolds fuel settings and exhaust systems.

Our new "BigPower" camshafts feature special lifts, durations, and ramp rates that take advantage of the lightened valve train of the "BigPower" Head. All of the new "Big Power" cams are designed to idle at or near stock idle RPMs with smooth power levels from idle to the high RPM levels of the engine.

These new cams are designed to deliver maximum power while still increasing the torque levels over the widest possible range. Our BP-101 camshaft is designed for truck and RV use with emissions compliance and peak pulling power of primary importance. Our BP-103 camshaft is designed to provide maximum power and torque from the engine with our manifold and cylinder head combination, and still provide adequate valve to piston clearances for the factory stock pistons.

The Raylar Inc. "BigPower" BP-106 camshaft was patterned to make the maximum horsepower from our head and manifold package with higher lift and durations that require forged pistons with larger valve reliefs.

Each of our new camshafts is designed and manufactured in the USA with the finest billets and ground on the finest state-of-the-art cam grinding machines available to give years of trouble free performance for your 496-8.1 engine.

Raylar Inc. Engine Development has teamed with Wiseco Motorsports to make special replacement 8.1liter 496 engine piston and ring packages available. These will be constructed with Wiseco's world famous forging process and will incorporate a Wiseco special hard anodizing and skirt coating system that will allow these pistons to provide even more strength to this engine. Wiseco's proprietary alloys will allow this piston to run tighter skirt to cylinder wall clearances to help eliminate piston slap noise and provide a forged piston capable of providing long life and extra strength that only forged pistons can provide. These pistons feature super lightweights of 550 grams and full floating pin systems to increase strength of this engine's rotating assembly.

Our new forged pistons are available in standard bore, .010 and .030 oversized and come fitted with Wiseco's plasma moly top ring and stainless oil control rings.

These new pistons will allow our customers to rebuild and upgrade the strength of their 496-8.1 engines. These pistons are capable of horsepower levels of over 800 HP without any fear of mechanical damage.

If you plan to rebuild your 496-8.1 engine especially if you are going to develop maximum power levels in this engine you should only use our proprietary Raylar "BigPower" Wiseco piston sets.

We have also developed, with Wiseco, forged pistons that will allow new strokes and super charging ratios for the 496-8.1 engine.
